About us
A project born from the vision of two passionate minds
At the origin of Bloom Brussels stands a complementary duo.
Laurent Marien, master optician and artisanal frame maker, has imagined, adjusted, and repaired eyewear for more than fifteen years with one unshakable belief: glasses can — and should — be made differently. A lover of the precise, meaningful gesture, he transforms eco-responsible materials into elegant, durable, and characterful frames.
Florence van Haare, on the other hand, is convinced that entrepreneurship must go hand in hand with responsibility. She shapes how Bloom Brussels is launched and built sustainably, laying the foundations for a brand that is coherent, committed, and anchored in its values.
Together, we share the same conviction: A pair of glasses can be beautiful, local, sustainable — and tell a story.
Creating a brand differently
In 2024, Bloom Brussels came to life in the heart of the Belgian capital. Not as just another eyewear brand, but as an answer to the desire to produce differently — with purpose, precision, and proximity.
The ambition was clear: to create an urban, responsible, and sustainable eyewear brand, made in Brussels.
In a world where most frames are produced on the other side of the globe, we chose to revive, locally, an almost forgotten craft.
The Bloom Brussels Workshop
A craft to be reborn
As the vast majority of frames sold in Europe are now made thousands of kilometers away, a nearly forgotten craft finds its way back.
The Bloom Brussels workshop brings together carefully selected machines, where artisanal tradition meets precision technology.
This is where everything takes shape. Here, in Brussels.
Between the vibrant streets of the city and the quiet light of our workshop, each Bloom Brussels frame is imagined, designed, shaped, polished, and assembled by hand.
Not as a step backward, but as a conscious and considered way to rethink production.

Bloom
It’s the idea of blooming, of renewal.
Bringing to life a new perspective on the objects we wear and on the way they are made.
Brussels
Because everything begins here.
Our city, our workshop, our roots.
Making locally, thinking sustainably
Producing locally, for us, goes beyond proximity. It is a way to be more responsible, more transparent, more consistent.
- Our eyewear is crafted from materials selected for their quality, local origin, and limited environmental impact.
- Crafted from plant-based fibers — cotton and wood —, our frames embody a new generation of eyewear. Derived from natural materials and made without petroleum-based plastics, they combine comfort, strength and elegance, while reducing the water, energy and CO₂ required for their production.
- Sourced from renewable resources and able to decompose without polluting, these plant-based fibers express our vision: eyewear that is durable, responsible and forward-looking.
- Recycled plastic caps, made from plastics collected and transformed in Brussels. A material once destined to disappear is reborn as an original frame — a circular approach where every element finds a new purpose.
- Every stage of manufacturing is designed to minimize our environmental footprint: optimized cutting, reduced material loss, water recycling, and carefully managed energy use at every workstation.
- We produce limited-edition models in small, controlled series — preventing overproduction and ensuring that every frame is crafted with precision and purpose.
- In our Brussels workshop, nothing is wasted: every resource is valued, every gesture has meaning.
- Our production takes place within a short, local supply chain — a deliberate choice to reduce transport, ensure traceability, and support local craftsmanship.
- Producing locally is, for us, a statement of coherence, responsibility, and transparency. It is about creating meaning at every stage, from design to delivery.
- Our frames are designed to last.
Their construction allows for repairs and adjustments, extending their lifespan and preventing premature replacement. - This commitment reflects our vision of more sustainable way of consuming — where value is measured over time, not in quantity.
